AK Adventure-10/3/07

Hello, Everyone. Here's your update for the day, although we have yet to figure out photos and video.
We've made it through the entire state of North Dakota and are going to stay in a small town just inside the east border of Montana off I-94 called Glendive. When we finished our update last night at the Flying J Truck Stop in Fargo, North Dakota, we walked out into the parking lot and looked at the RV in horror. We left our headlights on. Got lucky though. It didn't drain the battery. We found a small campsite near a closed down fairground and went to sleep, with no functioning heater. We froze our butts off. Hoping we can avoid that tonight.
There is one thing that stands out more than anything else in North Dakota. There are cows everywhere. Cow after cow after cow. Thousands of them. We really didn't get sick of the cows, we just got sick of traveling the entire state with half my body hanging out the driver's side window yelling 'MOO!' at the top of my lungs for 300 miles. My face is windburned and my hair is permanently in a blown back doo. Got into the first arguement with Pam today. She refused to let me stop in at the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame. We did pick up some new cowboy boots and chaps at a souvenier truck stop though. Feels good mingling with the laid back country folk.
The weather has been perfect (70 degrees and sunny). Looks like we've traveled a little less than a third of the way, but that's just a guess. The time will go much slower once we reach mid-Montana and north. Well, we're off to our campground now. Had to visit the local grocery store, where they just so happened to have Alaskan Amber beer....for my wife, you know.
More to come.
Bob and Pam
