AK Adventure, 10/2/07

Hello All.
This is Bob and Pam Johnson with a fully functional blog site. Now that we've figured out the site, we'll be learning how to attach pictures. Hopefully we'll figure that out within the next couple of days.
Here's an update for you.
We left the eastern Minneapolis/St. Paul area this morning and have made it to Fargo, North Dakota. While in Fargo, we're searching for a good, used wood chipper. But that's another story.
Last night we stayed in a remote campground, pretty much all to ourselves. Found a bottle of wine in the fridge and dined on ham and cheese sandwiches. Got a tip for you regarding the wine. Don't try to open it by shoving the handle part of a wooden spoon down the throat of the bottle in an effort to dislodge the cork. It will spray all over Mike and Tammy's kitchen. Don't worry, Mike and Tammy, it cleaned up. Our dog McKinley has a new thing now. She loves getting her whole body up on the dashboard. For those of you who are not familiar with RV dashboard, they are big. Big enough to give a 70 pound dog roaming room while I'm driving. Or is it McKinley who's driving. As we drove through Minnesota we kept seeing MN license plates that claim Minnesota as the land of 10,000 lakes. Frankly, I think they are wrong. We only counted 2,492. Unless the remaining 7,508 are somewhere other than I-94. Someone call somebody on this.
Got another tip for you. When looking for a Starbucks, don't stop in a gas station that serves coffee and ask where the Starbucks is. If you do, and they lady behind the counter asks you what's wrong with her coffee, don't tell her, 'Starbucks tastes better than gas station coffee'. Better just to walk away, for she was mad. Judging from her front teeth, she could probably have taken me.
There's been a fly on the wall for the whole trip now. Who is it? Is it Mike, Tammy? Is it Charlie?
Gotta go now. We're trying to get into an RV park before dark, which we were unable to accomplish last night.
More to come tomorrow. Now that this blog site is running, look on it daily for news. Don't wait for e-mails from us.

Yeah, you might as well give up on trying to find a starbucks until you get closer to WA. We're still going through withdrawls! The only way you'll find a starbucks is if a local gas station carries the bottled frapachino's. That's the only starbuck I can find down here.

So when are you going to see the world's largest ball of yarn and world's largest frying pan? I'll look up directions for you if you need them :)

"How much longer until we get there?" "I have to go to the bathroom"

Things that irritate me when traveling with my dogs, or was that my kids? Nope I think it was the dogs.

Travel safe Bob and Pam.
